When dedicated, hardworking family men come together with a vision they can achieve great success. Sounds like an encouraging headline for a motivational speaker or life coach, right? Well, this is actually a description of the men that founded Southwestern Scale Company. A family owned business that began in the late 1940’s is now proudly contributing to the economic growth of the Southwestern United States.
To understand our growth you must first understand our roots. Here is a little history lesson on how it all started at a small garage in Central Phoenix during 1948. Jack Payne & Cliff Taylor had a vision and started a new business with a humble beginning. It was a booming time for the Phoenix area. The area was growing and so was business… soon a new office was needed so they relocated to a larger space near the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. And the growth continued….by the 1970’s Sky Harbor Airport had big expansion plans and the business relocated for a 3rd time to the current location on Broadway Road. In 1984, Rollin Dumont moved to the Phoenix area to continue his 20+ year career in the scale industry and soon became the new owner of Southwestern Scale. The business continued to grow utilizing the Dumont Family’s experience and vision. In July 2000, the next generation of ownership began with Dean & Roger Dumont. Still going strong as a family business, the Dumont’s introduced modern business practices, while maintaining high levels of service & quality.
Through the years the hardworking men & women of Southwestern Scales have maintained a stellar reputation for value, quality and outstanding service proudly benefiting businesses & families in the southwest region. This commitment & dedication is reflected in the company’s variety of products & services. “We are prepared to meet the market demands through the next generation with services ranging from scale manufacturing, like the Sidewinder Truck Scale, the most prominent and widely used truck scale in this region, to the calibration, repair or rental of a variety of weighing equipment. (i.e. crane scales, forklift scales, bench scales, floor scales, livestock or even high impact coil scales). Tell us what you want to accomplish, and we will bring you a solution!”
